“I need to find a cure.Love ain’t good for me.”

Her voice is desperate. She has grown tired of always being the one to bend. Her honesty has failed to inspire change, but she’s not to blame. Her selfish lover is the culprit. She’s been forced on a path to reclaim her liberties and find that cure.

The latest release on Vega Records is a piñata of sound filled with a diverse assortment of sweet beats. The release includes three different remixes, “The Cure” by The Rhythm Sessions featuring Portia Monique on vocals. The remixes included are by Louie Vega, Adam Rios and Mark Francis.

The Rhythm Sessions is a South African house music brand formed by Edsoul & Fang DaRhythm. For the two talented men, it’s all about good music, having fun and inspiring creativity to break molds. They describe their approach, “For us music is an art form and our mission is to tap into a market that exists but has not been explored to its full potential. Our mission is to expose people to Good Music by taking them on a journey and placing freedom of expression and passion at the heart of everything we do.”

The song’s original DNA is full of energy and inspiration. It’s crystal clear why Louie Vega selected this song to be licensed to his imprint Vega Records. Louie has a predilection for positive and active songs that feature strong vocal performances. And boy does Portia Monique deliver. The duo writes, “We met Portia when she came down to Johannesburg to perform some shows and we had an opportunity to do an interview with her for our show on Kaya Fm and during that interview we spoke about doing something together and here we are,” says Fang. “The Cure” the first track from their forthcoming album.

The remix by Adam Rios is full of underground vibes with a boisterous baseline and hypnotic chords. Rios does it again delivering another dance floor stomper. Life-long fans of Vega Records will welcome this sound with open arms.

The remix by Louie Vega is more subdued and soulful. It doesn’t need to knock down doors to announce it’s arrived. This particular remix version really allows Portia to shine as a vocalist. Her attention to melodic detail is such a pleasure to witness.

The last remix by Mark Francis is the byproduct of the first and second remix mating. Its got the synth driving rhythm, but the drums are soulful and warm. The singing is silky and dashes in and out of the song’s percussive arrangement. The web of sounds begs listeners to close their eyes and give their body over to dance. The tribal dance patterns peppered throughout the song perfectly complement the seduction in Portia’s voice.

Be sure to enjoy these remixes presented by Vega Records on the label’s digi-store & all digital outlets and be sure to pick up the vinyl at participating distributors.
