Basement Boys Celebrate 100 Releases

It was 1986 when three young friends Jay Steinhour, Teddy Douglas and Thommy Davis first decided to make music on a 4-track recorder and sent sounds reverberating through a basement studio in Baltimore, USA. Producing music through raw creative expression, with each adding their own unique flair, and practically writing the book on what it means to be part of a true underground movement... Together, they formed the Basement Boys.

Mainstream acceptance was inevitable, but despite working with superstars Michael Jackson, Erykah Badu and Angie Stone, the Basement Boys always remained true to their DJ roots throughout. In 1989, Davis left the group and DJ Spen entered the fold to keep the Basement Boys moving full speed ahead. By 1995 the Boys started exposing and nurturing new talent on their own label, Basement Boys Records, evolving the group into one of the most respected and acclaimed names in the world of dance music.

Now in 2021, Basement Boys Records proudly announce their 100th single release and 30th year in the music business as an active recording label! And to celebrate we've forged a spotlight that showcases all the finest moments, including a considerable selection of classic releases, best of the Basement Boys DJ Charts and plenty of other nuggets of gold to uncover. With their ears forever tuned to the future you can be sure that the rumblings of soulful sounds from the Basement Boys will continue to move us for years to come.
