Louie's Vega Records in the Spotlight....

When it comes to spotlights, Louie Vega and Vega Records aren’t short of any - and that’s for good reason. They have never left the light.

This is what happens when you have one of the greatest to ever do it: DJ, record producer, Grammy award winner and one half of the iconic Masters at Work in the driving seat.

Vega Records has been, and continues to be, home to countless iconic releases over the years - prestige LPs, remixes, sacred edits and instrumentals that house heads around the world have been hunting for a slice of for decades. It’s an example of what all labels, both old and new, should set their sights on. A true constant of the highest quality - without any compromise.

It is, and it always has been about the music. Not the fanfare, not the sales, not strategizing for the market - just the purest in Soulful House directly from its source - Josh Milan Mr. V, Sara Devine, Anané, Victor Davies, Cerrone and of course Louie Vega. Its signature soulful sounds, such as ‘Louie Vega Starring XXVIII’ was nominated for a Grammy for Best Dance Album featuring an array of artists: Funkadelic, 3 Winans Brothers, Jocelyn Brown, Monique Bingham, Adeva, Caron Wheeler. "Can't Let You Go" - recorded by the iconic Loleatta Holloway and veteran producer Yvonne Turner was also nominated for a Grammy for ‘Best Remix’.

These cuts came straight from the underground and reached far beyond the USA.

Vega Records, and Louie himself for that matter, has been the source of influence for many - arguably everybody in some shape or form. From his Elements of Life project (recently brought back into the fore with a world tour in 2019) to Louie’s lockdown sessions streamed straight out of New Jersey - it continues to serve one of the most forward-thinking labels out there and one of the very few that demonstrates such effortless finesse.

From the deepest depths of the underground, to the highest of heights - as the Vega Records release ‘One Dream’ - composed by Louie Vega & Blaze, with the lead vocals by Anané, was created for Cirque Du Soleil’s performance shown during the 2007 Super Bowl.

That's why it’s only right that we here at Traxsource pay tribute to a label that has not only brought us so much joy over the years but also you, our global House Music family. Explore our carefully curated selection of cuts past, present and future - Traxsource exclusives, DJ sets and DJ charts - and immerse yourselves in House excellence.
