Anané is a fixture of global club culture, a DJ, producer, singer, and label boss with roots in Cape Verde and a career carved out of New York after landing on a one-way bus ticket with $150 and a bag of clothes. Raised in exile, she came up in the 90s, when the underground wasn't a scene but a fight, a beautiful riot of every sound crashing together at once. She was forged in the chaos of Tunnel, Cafe Con Leche, Save The Robots, Jackie 60s, Sound Factory Bar, and the iconic Esqualita, rooms where rules didn't apply and nobody asked for permission. This is where she learned to break molds, bend genres, and build her name from the ground up by refusing to play it safe.

A true multi-hyphenate DJ, producer, singer, label boss, cultural disruptor, Anané plays beyond genre. Her foundation is Afro, but her sets stretch across every corner of the club spectrum: deep, soulful, raw, hypnotic, electronic, percussive, progressive, and forward-thinking. As the founder of Nulu Music and Nulu Electronic Anané has been pioneering Afro House and Afro Tech since 2009, she has pushed sounds that now define the modern underground, not just Afro, but the full breadth of global, boundary-breaking club music. Her catalogue runs deep and her influence runs deeper, shaping rooms, shifting taste, and building community long before algorithms dictated what was "in."
