DA CAPO
Da Capo, one of South Africa's premier house music producers, has captivated global dance floors with his electrifying tracks. Born Nicodimus Sekheta Mogashoa, Da Capo discovered his passion for music early in life. The self-taught DJ chose the name 'Da Capo'—Italian for 'from the beginning' (literally 'from the head')—as it resonated deeply with his artistic vision after his initial choice was already taken.
Hailing from the small township of Seshego in Limpopo, Da Capo's journey in music began at 20 when he signed his first recording deal with DNH Records. He quickly established himself in the afro house scene with a string of successful remixes and singles. His eponymous debut album, released in 2014, featured collaborations with notable vocalists such as Clara Hill, Rona Ray, and Soulstar.
In 2015, Da Capo joined Soulstic Music, releasing the popular EP "Touched" in 2016. The EP included the hit single "Speed of Sound," featuring Tresor. His much-anticipated second album, "Indigo Child Part 1," dropped at the end of 2017. This 12-track masterpiece showcased his versatility, starting with soulful house tracks featuring artists like Jazz Maestra Wanda Baloyi, Jackie Queens, Afro-soul singer Berita, and Darian Crouse, before transitioning into Afro dance floor anthems with Renee Thompson, Tshepo King, and Soulstar.
"Indigo Child Part 1" achieved remarkable success, amassing over 36.5 million streams across music platforms. Singles like "Africa," "Kelaya," and "Found You" went multi-platinum, while "Resistance," "Dancing In The Villa," and "Ndiphendule" each achieved gold status.
In 2020, Da Capo launched his own record label, Genesis Entity, and released his first independent project, the "Genesys EP." The EP's standout single, "Yehla Moya," featured pianist Nduduzo Makhathini and vocalist Omagugu.
An international touring DJ, Da Capo has performed at renowned venues worldwide, including OUTPUT in New York, Hi Ibiza in Ibiza, Djoon in Paris, Jimmy's Monte Carlo in Monaco, and Void in Mykonos. His unique sound and dynamic performances continue to earn him a prominent place in the global house music scene.
