Tash's Movement Recordings opens the month of February by welcoming SHAZZE and Black Fish to the label for their debut EP. Based in the UK, SHAZZE is an international DJ and producer with Indian roots who graduated from London's well-known Sound Academy. Since first emerging in 2021, Shazze has made measureable strides, producing a club-effective style of melodic house and techno, regularly playing in some of the world's best clubs like London's Ministry Of Sound and EGG LDN, while supporting international acts such as Cosmic Gate, Guy J, Henry Saiz, Hernan Cattaneo, NAKADIA and Quivver. As a producer, Shazze has compiled a short but meticulous discography across the last four calendar years, recording projects for Beatfreak, Einmusika, UV Noir and his own HIGHER STATE imprint. Meanwhile, hailing from Poland, Black Fish first came to our attention on the strength of early releases for TAM Records, before branching out early this year with projects for Nomade and Surrealismo. Also a well travelled DJ, the Warsaw resident has performed at Egg London, Ibiza Rocks, Avalon Hollywood, Wisdome.LA and Eden Ibiza, amongst others. Having been previously paired for a release via Nomade, SHAZZE and Black Fish combine their extensive forces once again, making their Movement Recordings debut with ‘Forever', alongside remixes from Circle Of Life and Futur-E.
Utilizing a soulful vocal sample, title track ‘Forever' finds SHAZZE and Black Fish crafting a club-effective journey that should leave long-lasting memories on the dancefloor. Arriving in good time for the winter season, the duo's tough shapely grooves and striking stabs set a free flowing narrative for the vocal to become fully realized across the main break. Expertly reprocessed, the vocal sets the stage for a prophetic lead theme, one complete with darker monochromes and electric character, tailored perfectly to carry the proceedings onwards through a tension filled build and groove-centric drop. ‘Forget' follows in fine style and further cements the duo's elusive vision. Punchy kick drums, prophetic effects and haunted synth phrasing create anticipatory moments across the first act, eventually leading to the introduction of catchy vocal phrasing. Further flexing their creative vision, the duo take things a notch higher across the break, forecasting signal-bending synths for a rave-inspired finale.
Returning to the label for the lone interpretation of ‘Forever' is Circle of Life. Serbian artist Circle of Life first emerged in 2016 with a pair of releases via D-Nox's Sprout imprint. Immediately noted for his fusion of progressive house and techno, the Belgrade resident would go on to land impressive projects for Beat Boutique, Beatfreak, Siona Records, Suara and Hernan Cattaneos Sudbeat Music. Movement Recordings would also become a comfortable home for Circle Of Life, beginning with his label debut ‘Black Light' which landed in 2019. The next four years would see the Belgrade resident forge a strong bond with the label, delivering twelve originals and three remixes across ten excellent releases. With Circle of Life's most recent Movement Recordings vehicle ‘The Facts of Life' highlighting a strong 2024, the Serbian talent finds his way back to the label with a dark, crunchy rendition of ‘Forever'.
The release concludes with Futur-E returning to the label with the lone interpretation of ‘Forget'. As the Movement Recordings label manager, the Greek artist has delivered three originals and three four remixes since making his debut with a contribution to the label's popular 'Technical Progress' series in 2020. Often finding a creative balance between progressive and melodic house, the Elefsis resident remains choosey in his projects, with standout appearances on Dushe Label, Mango Alley and Stripped Recordings in recent years. With remixes of Tash and Delum highlighting his 2024 schedule, Futur-E returns to Movement once again, delivering a fresh timeless take on 'Basic Principles' to round out the release on a contemporary note.
