Tash's Movement Recordings opens the month of June by welcoming Allan McLoud back to the label for a new EP. Scottish-born, Zurich-based producer/DJ Allan McLoud has been involved in electronic music for well over three decades. The late eighties found Allan fascinated with the synth-driven styles which quickly found prominence during that era; a sound which led him to begin producing breakbeat influenced electronic music, before eventually finding his true passion in trance. It was a sound which would lead him to Germany where he began DJing in the country's north and building a catalog full of releases supported by the top DJs of the time. Fast forward to present day and Allan now calls Zurich home where he has rejuvenated his studio repertoire with the sounds of progressive house. His energetic melodic take on the genre has served him well, landing key releases for Joof Aura, Mango Alley and Nick Warren's The Soundgarden. Movement Recordings has also been a recent landing spot for Allan with the Scottish artist making three appearances across a six-month stretch in 2024. Now, continuing to build a bond with the label, Allan returns to Movement Recordings with ‘Psychedelic Expressions', alongside remixes from Rudra and Ilias Katelanos and Plecta.

Beginning with the colourful monochromes of ‘Psychedelic Expressions', Alan continues to explore the melodic blueprints from which he has made his name. A DJ friendly intro sets the pace for intoxicating atmospheres to create a sense of anticipation, eventually getting washed away as the bassline drops and a full percussion complement drives momentum forward. Carving out a dense path into the break, layers of synths eventually give way to a spoken word vocal narrative, sitting perfectly across the cavernous interlude, before a commanding section of chord stabs springs to life for a full on, peak-time worthy finale. Beneath the monstrous qualities of 'Psychedelic Expressions' lies the equally intriguing vibes of 'Concious Mind'. Alan opts for a slightly deeper and more emotive approach as tempo shifts down a touch, basslines open up and colour and texture begin to co-ax in a poignant marriage. Once again, a spoken word vocal narrative serves to highlight the breakdown, creating an air of mystery with its archaic appeal, and ultimately sealing a soaring grooved-out conclusion.

Returning to the label with the lone interpretation of ‘Psychedelic Expressions' is Rudra. As one of India's longest running progressive house artists, Rudra has been a fixture of the genre's scene for well over a decade. First emerging in 2012, the Kolkata resident has steadily been making a name for himself with a string of well-crafted records that present a cutting edge sound. 3rd Avenue, aboriginal, Juicebox Music and Mango Alley have all been landing spots for Rudra's elusive sound, while he continues to earn support from progressive music's top tastemakers. Already a contributor to the Movement label collective, Rudra has amassed four releases across the label's primary and Limited divisions since making his debut in April of last year. Now, following a release for Melody Of the Soul, Rudra finds his way back to Movement with a driving rework of ‘Psychedelic Expressions'. Landing with an old-school approach, the Indian talent finds success with an acid bassline, retro claps and timely atmospheric refrains. Using the vocal to great effect early on, this dark undertone sets up the introduction of a luminous arpeggiated sequence, which carries energy into the break, before an acid laced underbelly and colossal drum roll set up a charged finale.

The release concludes with Ilias Katelanos and Plecta making their label debut with the lone interpretation of ‘Concious Mind'. Based in Greece, and often paired together as a creative collaborative force, Ilias Katelanos and Plecta have carved out a unique sonic identity in the world of electronic music and organic house, resulting in a string of uniquely crafted records that present a resonant worldly sound. A combined discography highlighted by releases via Melody Of The Soul, Musique de Lune, Rubicunda, Songuara and UV has made them an in demand production duo. Prolific and creative across the first half of 2025, Ilias and Plecta now continue their trailblazing ways as the summer season approaches, making their Movement Recordings debut with a groovy rendition of ‘Concious Mind'. Bringing a contemporary club-effective state of mind, the duo reassembles the themes from the original for their own unique approach. A tighter framework, reprocessed vocals and fragmented synths co-ax perfectly atop rigid kick drums and well-contoured grooves, for what results in a cosmically correct rendition to round out the release in style.
