S&S Records, Inc. (and S&S Chicago, Inc.) was established by 4-time GRAMMY® nominated producer and House Music pioneer Steve "Silk" Hurley and global DJ/Producer Shannon "DJ Skip" Syas. Silk and Skip merged Hurley's worldwide commercial success and Syas' strong global following to form S&S Records. S&S Records has accumulated a catalog of new and classic hit records from global artists all over.
S&S is now presenting a collection of digitally remastered original versions of classic tunes, hand-picked from Hurley’s Silk Entertainment label. The full collection will include the releases of all 4 Silk labels, including ID Records, DJ World Records, and of course, Silk Entertainment Records, which has releases spanning all 4 decades.
Produced by Steve "Silk" Hurley, and written by Vernessa Mitchell, James Pullen, and “Silk” himself, “Higher” is a Gospel House Anthem, featuring the stellar vocals of Vernessa Mitchell. Her career started as the lead vocalist of her group, High Inergy, on Motown Records, with the hit song, “You Can’t Turn Me Off (In The Middle of Turning Me On),” and a Certified Gold debut album.
Also featured on “Higher” is the award-winning Ricky Dillard and his choir, New G., who provided the high-intensity choir experience on this uplifting song. Dillard started his recording career in the House Music in 1987, and a year later was signed as a Gospel artist, ultimately becoming nominated 2-times for GRAMMY® awards. He has recorded 10 albums so far, all of which have charted on the Billboard Gospel Albums Chart.
This comprehensive remastered package includes all of Silk’s original versions of “Higher,” including Silk’s GRAMMY® nominated “Journey to Heaven” remix.
