NavigatorThe ever excellent Fullbarr label returns with a single from fresh talent Samaan, featuring rolling techno and Detroit infused house and backed with a remix from M50 under his Area moniker... Fullbarr digital has, in it's short history to date, become a definite label to watch releasing a string of singles featuring music and remixes from the likes of Death on the Balcony, Brendon Moeller, Youandewan, Gliesers, Russo and Mark Broom. Among the more established names the imprint is also committed to searching out fresh talent, a search which led them to 21 year old Belfast DJ/Producer Samaan. Samaan is very much a second generation house and techno head, having spent his childhood around two acid house uncles who frequented Belfast's infamous Sugar Sweet in the late Eighties and David Holmes' night's in the nineties. It was through the discovery of said uncles dust covered vinyl collection that Samaan found his passion for electronic music and by the age of 19 he was co-promoting Belfast's One' night and playing alongside the likes of Michl Mayer, Sascha Dive and The Wignomy Brothers to name but a few. Now Samaan has taken to the studio and delivered the Navigator EP', an insight into his own take on house and techno. The release opens with title track Navigator', a deep and pulsing slice of hypnotic techno that draws you in with a tapestry of sounds, woven together with a refined precision that belies the artists tender years. Warm, rich and immersive this oozes quality. Next up we have Five' which again ventures into deep techno territory in classic style. Layers of FX and stabs over rolling drums provide a perfect slice of late night action, Finally we go even deeper as M50 working under his Area moniker steps up to rework Navigator'. Subtle, understated and powerful techno at it's best.
