Buxton Records head back to the Islands to commemorate their milestone 20th digital release, the 'Atlas' EP. In contrast to soft sounds heard on the debut from his co-op alias From earlier this year, Buxton regular Ben Milgate a.k.a. Islands is heading wicked, darker timbres in this outing.
Organic sounds bubble to surface in opening track Wombing, stirring a popping, tight-groove, but with a sombre mood, still. Prepared for a sneaky synth attack pre-listen, Synthenia is a confirmed, chord-rich delight, reminiscent of Daniel Bortz fatness, with the EP's title track maintaining this feel, sliding slightly into a more spectral space. Growling, spacious pads around glitched out stabs, Moth is a beautifully contrasted closing track with bright keys in its breakdown.
