WIDE Records is proud to announce Debasser’s first release of 2026 entitled “Kaggs”.
This three-track EP is nothing more than a humble tribute to one of the greatest Jungle labels of all time, Joker Records. Its creation is a labour of love and has been a personal project for Debasser for some time. Trying to capture the pure, archaic, raw, yet joyous sound of the many perfect releases that Joker put out over the years.
The EP opens with “Cricket”, borrowing from a classic late 70s cod reggae tune, it follows the anti-rules of tunes before. Teasing the listener and then dropping a bass line that is certain to raise the roof on any dance floor.
Track two follows a similar set up with “No Words”. This time taking advantage of some high-speed 80s film influences. As a tune it probably shouldn’t work, yet it clearly does.
Finally, we have “Red”, a tune that has to be heard to be believed. While that may sound pompous, it’s already had fantastic reactions from listeners. This is a tune that not only gets those feet dancing like a goon, you’ll also end up smiling like one too.
Debasser has been producing dance music since the early 2000s. His debut track was released on GTI Recordings in Detroit by Disco D. The track was quickly picked up by Richie Hawtin, leading to a release on NovaMute, followed by tracks on Seed, Balkan Vinyl, Input Output Inc., and his own WIDE Records. He was part of Andrew Weatherall's Haywire agency, playing their parties and countless other clubs and festivals across the UK and Europe, as well as DJing on Radio 1.
With an eclectic sound and genre-bending approach, he blends jungle/drum and bass, techno, UKG, electro, house, and anything else that catches his fancy to create an unforgettable sound, always centred around parties and bass.
“Kaggs” will be released at the end of January.
