Croatian electronic music veterans Ivo T Montina and Robert Grizilo—better known as Cortex Thrill—join forces once again with fellow countryman Alan Kranzelic aka Oversound, for their superb new three tracker, ‘Chromatic Drift’. With a career spanning over 30 years, Cortex Thrill has cemented its place at the heart of the European electronic scene, renowned for its ever-evolving sound and iconic status under the Bonzai banner. Oversound, a fixture in Croatia’s House music landscape since 1995, has performed at premier events across the country and made a lasting mark by opening Croatia’s first vinyl record store—a move that ultimately inspired his moniker.

‘Iridescent Waves’ opens the release with a hypnotic pulse, drawing us into a deep, meditative space before chunky kick drums and shimmering hi-hats ignite the groove. A warm, caressing bassline anchors the rhythm as delicate melodic fragments dance across the spectrum. Gradually, a darker edge surfaces—cascading 303 acid lines, sharp plucks, and cosmic textures add tension and intrigue. In the break, dystopian synth stabs slice through the atmosphere, setting the stage for a powerful climax that fuses emotion with raw, futuristic energy.

‘Prismatic Voyage’ is up next, opening with a haunting, cinematic atmosphere, ghostly pads and sweeping FX set an eerie, immersive tone. A pulsing bassline soon emerges, steadily building tension as staccato-driven chords cut through the mist. Melodic arps weave contrast, adding brightness to the brooding backdrop. As the break hits, a chilling sequence unravels—hypnotic and spectral—before the track surges back into full-on mode.

‘Echoes’ rounds out the release, introing with bubbling basses that inject rhythm and forward motion, as sharp accents flicker through the mix. Punchy kicks and tightly-woven percussion lock in the groove, while twisted 303 lines slither in, adding a gritty, acidic edge.
