The mysterious feathered duo from Tokyo, KAISER PENGUIN, ready their second release for N.E.O.N since 2019's 'Tiger Drums'. Proving that their superlative approach to their recordings is something to behold; a sense of stamina and care that is so often overlooked in the fast-moving world of dance music.
'BOHO' is a transcendental composition that presents a mature juxtaposition of patience and energy throughout its seven-minute lifespan. The persistence of the steady quarter note kicks and swelling tambourine loops echo the mood of the slow-building chords that progressively scatter and bounce across the stereo field. Interlocking hi-hats shimmer atop while the ghostly, robotic vocals stretch and form into interlocking layers that make way for beckoning clap fills; a call to the dancefloor, a signalling rhythm that the ritual has begun. The breakdown paves way for a modal, chorus of voices that shift between rich, indulgent harmonies and unsettling discord.
