Kamosoul debuts on Piston Recordings with the superb Shine EP, which features 2 original tracks and 2 excellent remixes. With a deep love and understanding for underground music, Kamosoul started to DJ in 2015, this led him into producing his own music and he has never looked back since. He is all about the quality of the work and not about the name making, this ethos can be heard and felt in the sounds he creates, deep, electronic with groovy elements with occasional rough, dirty edges. He draws inspiration from the likes of Atjazz, Knxwledge and Mick Jenkins, because he admires their consistency and work ethic. Great to have him on board.

The original Mix of Shine dishes out a deep, organic slice of house music. Shuffling drums and percussions with a raw vibe lead the way as dark chords fill the spectrum. Warm pads remain a constant as a deep, plucky bassline adds depth to the groove. Cool vocals add character to this moody groover with its distinct fusion construction, that does not disappoint.

Johannesburg, SA based DJ producer Bninjas returns to Piston with his Basement Mix of Shine. This remix follows his debut release with us titled, Subjected To You EP and it’s great to see him back again. For the last several years, Bninjas has been churning out some quality tracks across various labels, and this is no surprise given the quality of his work. Here, the remix takes the original in a more upward trajectory while retaining that organic, raw flavour. Additional voices create a more vibrant setting as a more frenzied bassline comes through. Hypnotic chords create infectious loops that keep us locked on for the duration, top-notch stuff.

G. Poulias debuts on Piston with his top-notch interpretation of Shine, his MG Dub. With several tracks and remixes under his belt over the last few years, this guy is making a name for himself and becoming synonymous with quality at every turn. It’s a pleasure to have him here and we hope to hear more from him in the future. On the remix here, the rawness of the groove is a compliment to the original. The heavily influenced hybrid sound stands out, and that draws you in. A more conventional drum section sets the tone as mesmerizing voices repeat. Deep basses and warm chords break through the gritty edges which adds a unique character. Super stuff, not to be missed.

This Record takes us deeper into analogue territory. Scattered percussions are joined by a raw kick drum, creating a cool signature. Distorted vocals give the track a gritty, dirty edge while sub level bass tones are spread out. The groove is littered with cool FX which keep that raw flavour. Groovy pads and warm chords stay the course which makes this one the perfect fodder for the late-night session.
