Love, body, travelling, nature. We normally assume that every record says something about these things, but Mente Organica's album seems to go through them one by one calmly, guiding the listener's attention. Each song transform natural elements into other realities or pure imagination, always leaving a room for dreaming.
Ojos (Eyes) is Jacobo Polania aka Mente Organica's first record, a hand crafted blend of andean sounds, south american melodies and hypnotic beats, quiet and yet (very) danceable. Nine unpretentious songs, in which Jacobo, oblivious of troubles, simply names things and spaces, and shows them, sometimes whispering very brief messages as a guidance. The organic sounds cohabit peacefully with the electronic ones: folk-rooted strings and percussions, are transformed by him in order to make them surprisingly adaptable for the dancefloor.
Guest singer Lapola Kalu's deep voice is yet another colour in this landscape, in songs like Temazcal or Oualidia, takes the listener to an ethereal space that could be Mexico, the Andes, or some hiding place in an eastern coutry. In this new wave of latin american electronic artists, post ZZK, post Nicolas Jaar, post Nicola Cruz, it doesn't really matter if it's one place or the other, but the sense of journey and the presence of nature.
Jacobo Polania aka Mente Organica is a young music producer born in Bogota, Colombia. He began his project in 2017, and in such a very short amount of time he's produced more than 20 tracks, aiming to create introspective rituals, to enable the listener's reunion with the universe. His productions are an alchemy of organic sounds and electronic elements, put together to create a deep and reflexive journey. He's currently living in Berlin, and has published EP's through Numa and Random Colective. Ojos, coming out through Fertil Discos, is his first LP.
