Mente Orgánica - Pukllay
Producer and multi-instrumentalist Mente Orgánica returns with Pukllay, his new studio album released by Fertil Discos. An album that marks a turning point: after a long period immersed in electronic textures and machine beats, the artist felt the need to return to a fresh, organic, and deeply human sound.
With compositions developed over several years, Pukllay was born from an uncontrollable creative impulse: a musical "vomit" in which Mente Orgánica sat down to play without restraint, surrounded by instruments and without measuring time. The result is an album that breathes freedom and spontaneity, traversed by acoustic timbres: ronroco, charango, guitars, acoustic piano, double bass, bombo legüero, unquantized drums, and touches of Moog synthesizer.
The title, Pukllay, means "game" or "carnival" in Quechua, and captures both the playful spirit of the sessions and the festive, carnival-like character that runs through the album. Each track feels like an intimate dialogue between tradition and exploration, between Latin American roots and contemporary arrangements.
Recorded at a time of introspection, the album also reflects a personal change: the decision to work alone, after a period of intense activity in Bogotá, where Jacobo garnered growing attention and performed at major festivals with his more acoustic song projects. Now, with Pukllay, the musician plans to reactivate his live set and form an ensemble to bring these songs to life, expanding his sound universe on stage.
About Mente Orgánica
Mente Orgánica is the project of producer and multi-instrumentalist Jacobo Polanía, a native of Bogotá, Colombia, known for his fusion of electronic music with acoustic sounds and Latin American roots. His work moves fluidly between the ancestral and the contemporary, weaving soundscapes that combine digital textures with indigenous and classical instruments such as piano and guitar. Active for more than five years, Mente Orgánica has developed a unique identity within the global organic electronic scene, with a sound that blends downtempo, Latin American folklore, cumbia, and elements of world music. His compositions invite both contemplative listening and dancing, exploring the connection between music, territory, and memory.
They have released two albums, Ojos (which includes their most popular track, "Manos") and Marinero en Chapinero, several EPs, and tracks on the label's compilations. They have also released on labels such as Early Measures, Numa Music, and Random Collective, among others, bringing their sound to the international scene.
