An Argentinean artist with an established reputation and ever-expanding portfolio, Antrim, returns to the Particles spotlight with "Dizziness", including remixes from Australia and Hungary.
A DJ and producer from the age of 14 working from the foothills of the Sierras Chicas, Guillermo Cornejo has spent several years focusing on an innovative sonic identity. Through his Antrim moniker, the Argentinean was picked by Nick Warren to be part of his 2013 "Renaissance Sampler" for Hope Records, as a further triple century of production credits can be found against the likes of Balkan Connection and Perspectives Digital. Making his debut for the label in July 2014 with an appearance on "Summer Particles" compilation, "Metheny" went on to see its own release with remixes from Simos Tagias and GMJ. Now returning with his first original work since then, "Dizziness" is a storming rhythmic gem that delights with shuffling percussive cadence and grooved arpeggio sequence. Evolving elegantly with emotive phrasing, a counterpoint melody makes its play in the breakdown, extending intelligently into the third movement to create a work of silky skill.
Rich Curtis is an artist who has been at the forefront of the underground scene for several years. A renowned promoter in his Brisbane hometown, the Australian has been responsible for bringing a host of leading lights to Queensland, including Anthony Pappa and Hernan Cattaneo. Moreover, a production career that saw a debut on Cid Inc.'s Replug has gone on to see a raft of successes on the industry's biggest independent labels that include Tulipa, Flow Vinyl and Tim Penner's Slideways. A regular on Proton Music and Particles, the "Safety Thirst" was a notable highlight for the former, while a quintet of remixes for the latter now sees Rich Curtis returning for a sixth outing with "Dizziness" a wonderful blend of original components combined with Curtis' characteristic additional production. A huge thumping beat and floor-shaking groove supplies dance floor energy as a variation on the arpeggio sequence of the original is joined by a subtle interpretation of Antrim's lead line, filtered, distorted and delayed into a new and dynamic direction. The resultant work is a typically strong and mature offering.
Revered across the underground dance fraternity, Erich Von Kollar is an iconic figure. A Proton Radio DJ since 2009, his "Relations" show and "Compiled and Mix" albums of the same name were a mark of his success as a DJ and tastemaker. Co-founding the successful Stellar Fountain imprint, the Hungarian has also seen much success as a producer. In addition to work for Stellar Fountain, Von Kollar has found himself featured on such blue-chip imprints, SexOnWax, Balkan Connection and Soundteller and it is a pleasure to welcome him to Particles with a debut remix. Reworking "Dizziness", the Erich Von Kollar interpretation is redolent in swirling pads and melodic phrasing that pays tribute to Antrim's track with its clever use of original components, fused with innovative additional production material. A strong house rhythm wraps the various synth lines in a crisp shell as an evolving arpeggio sequence filters into range in the third movement to add a further layer of sonic intrigue.
Giddy with success, Antrim's "Dizziness" is scales further heights with remixes from Rich Curtis and Erich Von Kollar.
