Both artists with long and significant contributions to the underground dance community, E.F.G. and Neptun 505 have each enjoyed long and successful production careers. For over 15 years and more than 600 credits between them, their solo work has graced the catalogues of Stellar Fountain, Smart Phenomena, Natura Viva and Lamp. Joint forces on almost a century of credits, the pair's output on the likes of Stellar Black and Electronic Tree has been prodigious with a host of original EPs including 2022's "Echoes / Orbit of Thoughts" and 2017's full-length "Cycle" album for the Tuxedo-led Polish imprint.

While E.F.G. has seen a pair of EPs on Particles in the shape of 2018's "Clockwork" and 2020's "Thunderground", his collaboration with label debutant, Neptun 505, sees the title track redolent in smooth melodic flourishes and cascading delays. With a deep progressive character, an intermittent vocal sample carries "Rise Again" forwards, as does a hefty kick and metronomic offbeat hats. Waxing and waning with ease, muted plucks create a head-shaking cadence that sits perfectly atop the smooth sub-bass groove. Partner track, "Dawn Amid Dusk" immediately appeals with its tribal rhythms and syncopated chord motif. Full of subtle dancefloor character, a house-inspired piano phrasing comes to the fore at the breakdown alongside an evocative string sequence. A rippling arpeggio adds to the sonic collage, evolving gently with immaculately placed call-and-response motifs in the second half to mesmeric effect.

Turkish producer Erdi Irmak has been a central figure in the Proton story since late 2013. A decade later, a plethora of original EPs and remixes have seen the Istanbul-based artist continue to excel, breaking new sonic boundaries with his ability to transform traditional dance music with a range of cross-cultural influences. From his cosmopolitan surroundings, 2014's full-length album, "You're Either Guilty or Not Guilty" saw a high watermark moment on Particles, as have 7 iterations of his "Hidden Arcadia" series on Proton Music. Remixes for the likes of Sebastian Busto, Stories of Others and a January 2024 reworking of Dave Leck's "Opal" have further shown the Turkish star's production talent as he now returns to Particles with another powerful remix. Taking on "Rise Again", the Erdi Irmak Remix is a beautifully constructed interpretation that takes the melodic themes central to the original and transforms them into trademark new directions, not least at the breakdown where a flowing freeform flute sequence links a dynamic rhythmic groove and undulating arpeggio that brings hallmark energy and vitality to his work.

Showcasing a long and lasting production relationship, E.F.G. and Neptun 505 "Rise Again".
