Craig Harris, a new signing to the Thema family, came up in New York’s rave and techno underground since the ‘90s, crafting his sound for the last few years, pushing to a standard worthy of a sharp ear.
Objects for Observation’s “Reactive Parallel” breaks the EP open with a pulsating kick and hypnotic synth that builds tension between the layered claps and sci-fi bleeps. “350°”-a techno banger-incites forbidden feelings with its sub-heavy bass and warehouse style. Shifting toward a headier destination through “Unknown Channel” - a steady deep-bass kick and vocal stab that ebbs and flows, creating both an external-and-internal experience. “S.M.O” provides space with its atmospheric sounds, which sets up “Polaris,” a sonic sci-fi sequence that builds upon a rolling snare, bleeps and sirens that end with an overdriven kick.
Even if Harris is fresh to release, you can hear the maturity in the music contained in the pure pound of techno and the results are made to make the dance floor fly with ease.
