After releasing the festive "Bells Of Christmas", which boasts covers of classic Yuletide hits by DJ 19 and Edison as a single unit, Ambrozia is back with their 4th studio album entitled "Resurrection". This is a reunion of the original Ambrozia line-up featuring Julianne on vocals. The songs of the Japanese chillout outfit have been featured on many famous chillout and lounge compilations, such as "Real Ibiza", "Café Ibiza" and "Café Nirvana", amongst several others, and they are referred to as AOL=Adult Oriented Lounge style.

Though the producers, DJ 19 and Edison bring their own distinct identities to the album, it's the way they both blend with and enhance Ambrozia's sound that makes the record such a deftly modern take on classic Ibiza tropes. They've also been releasing many 1980s covers over the years. This time sees them covering 4 songs. The first one is Chris Rea's AOR/disco classic, 'On The Beach' featuring Lonnie Hirsch. The second one is Corey Hart's 'Never Surrender'. The third one is Frankie Goes To Hollywood's 'The Power Of Love'. The last one is Quarterflash's 'Harden My Heart'.

The album has a calm and serious sound that features works such as the jazzy 'Transition' sang by Carla Vallet, and 'Social Media' a biting commentary on modern day media by Julianne. The gentle opening track 'The Night Came Down' is a remake of their debut track 'Broken Wings' from the time before Julianne joined in 2001. In addition, Frank Gordon from the United States, now living in Tokyo blows the trumpet on 'Transition', and 'One Last Time' a moody and pleasing track from the seaside. The utter triumph and highlight of this album is arguably 'On My Own' with Denmark's Ganga.

It would be a big surprise to find another album that works so well as a summer playlist this year.
