Norway is definitely not one of the countries that spring to mind when it comes to releasing 90's house jamz back in those days. But in the mid 90's, the interest for the classic 90's house sound slowly developed and some producers stepped up. One of them was Paal Sorli. At first, in 1995, he used the alias 'Dj Tripman. Then one year later, he also started to use the alias 'addvibe.'
A few years later he had a label up and running and several releases under his belt. It was around 1997 that the plans for an CD album took shape. But he needed a label with more resources, before it could become an reality. The Norwegian label Beatservice Records with boss Vidar Hansen stepped up. The year after, 1998, an CD album was licenced from he's label Thang Records, and released by the name of 'Dusty&Dirty thangz vol 1.' The album didn't really do nothing outside Norway, and was soon forgotten.
So it is really a pleasure to blow the 'dust&dirt' of some of the trax from this release to show the development of a less known house scene. VIER will, from time to time, release a small selection of some of the tracks from this compilation.
Moreover, VIER even found mastertapes of unreleased material produced in Norway from the early 90's. This will be released in 2017 to further present a house history that is totally unknown.
