After quite a long break, Vinyl Vibes Records is finally back with a new release. This time we're introducing 4 up-and-coming Brazilian Artists who present their individual version of sophisticated four-to-the-floor club music.
The Directions EP is about different directions that one might take to create a unique experience on the dance floor, but also about further directions that our label might take in the future.

1. Apoena - Coral Creatures

Vinyl addict Apoena delivers what could be called a "mood tune". Somehow old school, yet modern. And what a nice mood it is! No wonder that this particular track turned out to be the favourite of renowned producers like Michael Mayer, Laurent Garnier or Musumeci who where amongst the chosen few to listen to this EP first.

2. Rafael Moraes - Sumthin' Deep

Being a resident DJ in South America‘s temple of good electronic music, "D-Edge" in São Paulo, Rafael Moraes knows what it takes to produce DJ and dance floor friendly tunes. And if you feel like this is reminding you of a certain organic old school vibe, then you will not be surprised to find out that he is also part of the Yoruba family, having released on Osunlade‘s label and also having remixed the master himself.
"Sumthin' Deep" is reduced classic club music that has no need for drops or big drama. Instead, some clever placed rim shots turn out to be the peak of a track that is nothing more (and nothing less) than a subtle piece of DJ music. One of a kind that you don't find too much any more these days.

3. Fractal Mood - Baxa Uma Oitava

Considering that repetition is a basis of House and Techno music, you might find this tune confusing or at least challenging. It just keeps on rolling, taking you on a trip through different sounds, breaks and ideas. Meanwhile, the tune does not necessarily assure you to ever bring you back into the safe harbour of structure or familiar parts. But what a great trip it is!
Sandrino (of Frankey & Sandrino fame) simply stated "Saugut!", which can loosely be translated as "Fucking good". We totally agree!

4. Color Field - Noon

Color Field is a new project by Porto Alegre based musician Rossano Snel. And like the last tune on this EP, you will find this one to have quite a unique structure. First you'll notice the absence of the dominant off beat hi hat. Next thing is the big break that is exactly that extra bit longer to make the dance floor scream before the beats return. And then it takes another twist into some epic strings and chords leaving the beat just as a memory for nearly 3 minutes. Perfect for those DJs who love doing long epic mixes.

The Directions EP is not the usual Deep House / Tech House release with those kind of beats, chords and sounds that have become so similar in clubs worldwide. It's a fragmentary inside view into the versatile Brazilian sub culture, with producers that have their very own voice and way of saying things.
We are very happy to have the opportunity to present them on our label.
