DJ-Feedback:
Steve Angello - "Original Mix...Like it!"
Adam Beyer - "Apophis is great, support."
Boys Noize - "I like the original!"
John Acquaviva - "Solid ep. Ramon does it for me."
Stacey Pullen - "Perfect for SCI+TEC but not for me."
Egyption myth tells us that Apophis was the ancient spirit of evil and destruction, a demon that was determined to plunge earth into a void of eternal darkness. Apophis is also the name that scientists have given to a gigantic asteroid that many believe, if it were to strike a planet, would release more than 100, 000 times the energy that was experienced in blast over Hiroshima. On both counts dark, menacing, deadly and ultimately destructive. Yes, that pretty much fits the billing for Butch's brand new cut for Dubfire's always on point imprint.
Known for is productions on labels such as 8Bit, Trapez, Area Remote and Great Stuff, Butch has built a reputation for creative and elegant productions. His use of rich sound textures was perfectly displayed in his 2008 artist album 'Papillon', without doubt one of the finest electronic albums of recent times. DJ, Producer and record label boss, Butch runs the successful 'Bouq' imprint alongside studio partner Amir.
'Apophis' counts us down to take off, and shoots us into the Techno night. As the sirens rage and the bassline throbs, we suddenly enter a falling star burst of sound. Then the engines kick in once again and drive us to the close.
Fellow Great Stuff artist Ramon Tapia arrives on his very own Techno- craft to deliver his take on the original. Moody and acidic, Ramon's mix subtly grooves away as the siren homes in. Accelerating to max speed, take off is aborted and we lock back in the groove to Build once again. Now we launch with snare rolls blazing.
