Enrooted in the underground, rised to a top act: Steril. After hiding five years under the surface, now he is back: with his brand new Thermonuclear EP. With his sound, combining Breaking Hip Hop Electro with early 80ies New Wave, he made it in the international music business without losing sight of his home.
In the late 90ies, Steril aka Latex established Electro music in Munich's nightlife. During that decade he threw illegal parties in abandoned industrial locations as founder and DJ of his partycrew Instant. With DJ Splank (known from Zombie Nation) he also launched the "Polizeistation", a bulletin board Munich's
clubculture wouldn't be imaginable today without.
For labels as International Deejay Gigolo Records, Erkrankung durch Musique, Lasergun or Kurbel Records Steril performed in Barcelona, Glasgow, Vienna, Moscow or Rio de Janeiro. Influenced by the cities of Tokyo and Berlin where he lived, he spun the turntables and created his own myth in the early 2000s. 2006 he
returned to his hometown Munich, where he now hosts regularly the club party series 'Sendling Boogie Breaks' at Sunny Red, Feierwerk.
With Thermonuclear EP Steril is now back after five years, staying in line with his musical pricipals. The EP with four tracks called Gamma Dawn, Orbital Bombardement, Erstschlag and Rogue Missile could be described as oldschool, but definitly not dusty. Thermonuclear shows Steril's traditional but undogmatic view on Electro music.
Hymns from the underground violently breaking thru the surface: The four tracks are floating somewhere between Miami and the universe, between apocalypse and the vision of a future out of reach. Just as cheerful as the strobe light. With soulsonic drumloops and ultra synth-riffs, the EP is racing into tomorrow.
Thermonuclear isn't science fiction, it is a mission: boogie to the future!
