Self Made Slice

Kell Wardrop

Rarebit Records
RR017 | 2026-01-30
Championing Welsh talent has always been at the heart of Rarebit, and this release does exactly that. We're proud to kick off the year with one of Wales' most exciting rising names, Kell Wardrop. Hailing from Llandeilo, Kell has been quietly carving his lane, and those in the know have been watching his steady climb with interest. There's no better way to set the tone for 2026 than welcoming him to the label, alongside a remix from Rarebit boss Joey Rich.

The Self Made Slice EP is a statement of intent-raw, focused, and built with the dance floor firmly in mind.

The title track, 'Self Made Slice', opens things up with a stripped-back, minimal house groove that lets the fundamentals do the talking. Tight drums, subtle swing, and a rolling low end give the track a confident, unforced energy, while carefully placed vocals keep things moving without ever overcrowding the mix. It's understated but effective-exactly the kind of tool DJs reach for when they want the ravers to lock in.

On the flip, 'Raw Intention' shifts gears into tougher territory. Drawing clear influence from UKG, Kell injects a deeper, more emotive edge into the groove. Crisp percussion meets weighty bass pressure, creating a track that balances grit with atmosphere. It's raw, heads-down, hands-up energy with feeling.

To round things off, Joey Rich steps in with a weighty remix of 'Self Made Slice', flipping the original into a 140 weapon. Punchy drums, driving bass, and flashes of emotion give this version serious momentum, making it tailor-made for late-night moments and peak-time pressure. Joey adds his signature touch while respecting the soul of the original, delivering a remix that'll be in heavy rotation late into the year.

With the lines between house, garage, and bass music continuing to blur, Kell Wardrop arrives on Rarebit at exactly the right moment. The 'Self Made Slice' EP is confident, versatile, and rooted in the underground-an exciting first chapter for both artist and label this year.

Welcome to Rarebit, Kell. This is just the beginning.
