An initial outreach for a separate project unexpectedly aligned eleu and Jabes, leading to eleu hearing a Jabes work-in-progress that perfectly complimented the sound eleu was exploring. Departing from Jabes’ heavier, bass-driven club work, the pair followed a softer, rolling shoegaze direction, effortlessly giving rise to Every Shade.
The project evolved through multiple versions, with Storm as the original and Sunset emerging as the standout alternative. The tracks capture the moment when light fades into darkness, when something disappears, yet its imprint lingers in your vision.
Like grief, Every Shade holds two sides, the storm of loss and anger, and the quiet beauty of acceptance as the sun sets. It reflects the duality of losing someone, feeling both their absence and their presence everywhere, and the complexity of grief when connection feels stronger after loss than it did in life.
