The French duo Kimshies, hailing from Lille and Paris, unveil their first EP on Polaris, marking the label’s 37th release. Longtime fixtures on Polaris’ radar, the pair deliver an explosive two-tracker blending analogue warmth, retro flair, and pure club energy. Following acclaimed outings on Dust & Blood and Roam Recordings, they continue to refine a sound driven by raw groove and sonic intensity.

The title track, “Smacking the Beat”, kicks in with crisp drum machines, a thick analog bassline, and robotic vocal hooks that drive its irresistible groove. Distorted synths and shimmering arpeggios give it a vintage edge, while its evolving structure fuels peak-time intensity and late-night euphoria.

On the flip, “Orgastic” explores deeper territory with a pulsating bassline, hazy vocals, and hypnotic tension. Layers of filtered synths and precise percussion create a sensual, immersive atmosphere, proof of Kimshies’ ability to fuse energy and emotion with finesse.
