With stellar remixes of Mild Bang and, more recently, Brian Johnson under their belts – plus notable releases on Adjunct, Rawthentic and Black Swan in between – we couldn't be happier to welcome L.A. duo Android Cartel with their first full-fledged release for Thoughtless. Employing all manner of spacey effects, the title track is brimming with late-night energy reinforced by a heavy duty groove that should make it easy to play at a wide range of clubs and all manner of hedonistic affairs. Since moving to Montreal, Chicago native Billy Dalessandro's sound has continued to develop in service to his avowed surrealist aesthetic without ever sacrificing an ounce of physicality, and his remix of Terminal finds him at the peak of his analog-powered game. Meanwhile, Toronto's enigmatic Platypus returns to the fold, employing his infamous melodic instinct to maximum effect with a dizzying house-slanted interpretation. Yet the California boys seem to have saved their best for last: Feel Good mimics the vast sprawl of their hometown, tectonic subs undergirding a deceptively complex network of intricately arrayed pads and gridlocked percussion, hypnotic vocals fueling momentum towards a not-so-distant shore. Reaching the eventual terminus at the end of a night's long journey, it's only natural if we feel good...
