The surreal transformation of facts and places through time.
For release number 69 we welcome K from Shanghai to expand our label family
and countries we published music from. With “Alternative Memory” Liquid
Mechanics expresses the overall feeling, which is in this case – to reflect the
surreal transformation of facts and places through time and creating the
alternative remembrance of the same place/event/thing.
Things go through metamorphosis in our minds and something that was obvious
in the past may appear to be not so obvious now. Simple things become magic
and magical things become dull as we reconsider them or talk or listen to the
music. For K this surreal idea is also pretty much reflected in paintings of Jacek
Yerka: Something ordinary just behind the corner suddenly appears to be a whole
new world. That may also happen to the things on the hindsight and that’s the
source for art and creation.
Shanghai for him as a city is all about its architecture and spirit. Some districts
look like they belong to some cyberpunk city of the future, and some belong to
traditional Chinese style. Some look like they are simply from another planet. It’s a
huge city, but the old center is very cozy and mysterious with sycamore lanes and
Spanish/French colonial style houses. All sorts of things happen there. Everything
can enter your life easily and it’s nice to meet new people and get involved in
incredible stories.
