It's been ten years now since Leipzig beatmaker Luvless released his debut 'Luvmashine' EP on Tsuba, and a whilst a fair bit of water has flowed under all the bridges since, his core deep house aesthetic has escaped the ravages of accelerated time, sounding as fresh and relevant as it did then.
This, his debut long player, covers a spectrum of the Luvless sound :
from mood setting, kick free opener "Bloomer", the classy soulful vocals of "Desire", dreamy percussive vibes of "Memory", the tougher 4/4 workout of "Greenest Green", looping Larry Heard-esque "Set Adrift"... across to the jazzy tinges of "Matchbox", cosmic broken beat of "Space Trave"l and warm, piano chords and Rhodesy accompaniments of set closer "Elevate".
The palette is broad, but within defined, unselfconsciously constructed parameters, leading to a cohesive, immersive listening experience, always welcome amidst the eternal strum und drang.
