As one of our featured artists, Jay Tripwire delivers the goods as only he can.
With his long production career spanning 3 decades, Jay has delivered quality to some of the finest dance music labels out there, time and time again. This project was something special that was put together specifically for Deepen Sound, and you can hear the trademark direction the label is pursuing. On "Tell It" Jay drops the BPM mid-tempo and brings a traditional deep house vibe, reminiscent of classic Charles Webster and Nu Groove. The warm tonal pad hook and the chopped vocals take you right back to the early days of house, and in the second part of the arrangement the spice flows with a subtle acid peppering to bring this intricate piece home. J'ecoute is more of a floor banger reminiscent of early Wicked Crew and the underground sound of the West Coast long before the days of bongo driven dub based house. It begins with a hypnotic rhythm and driving bass that develops into a haunting string and keyboard riff sure to destroy any dancefloor played by the right hands. On remix duty we have longtime Deepen friend Mike Shannon collaborating with DeWalta. They bring a modern approach to "Tell It" with a low slung ever changing bass and a bouncy drum groove that slowly evolves and changes to reach the crescendo moment where they bring the original pad melody in to tie it all together.
