The 2nd single by Chris Massey's new Thief Of Time project sees him continue to travel an electronic pathway and to reflect on personal experiences & significant chapters from his own life and the characters that have been present, all done with a spaced out, cosmic and almost cinematic soundscape as he further flexes his skills within the studio and with guest Manchester artists along for the ride!
Pavement Soul is written about individuals seen regularly in a local location to Chris whom would sit on the pavement by a retail park with a sign asking for any spare change. As Chris said, 'I would see the same regular guy by the lights near our house and would always wonder about his life and his background, where he had come from, what choices he had made and if he had family who were aware of his current whereabouts. Whatever the answer, it's a seemingly sad existence that I don't think anybody sets out to achieve, or maybe they do?'
The resulting track is an electronic-funk-mutant pop attack on the senses which features an incredible vocal & lyrics by Manchester based artist & performer NIIX who brings an angelic ethereal presence. A Certain Ratio's Donald Johnson features on bass guitar along with additional synth stabs & squeaks by bandmate Martin Moscrop all alongside uplifting pads, glitchy beats & synth programming by Massey.
The track will also be tied into The Mayor's Charity and will see a donation from initial sales go towards tackling Manchester's homeless crisis.
