Roman Ricardo: Back In The Studio.
Remember the original Hot 103.5. The Original Saturday Night Dance Party. At the time WQHT was wired into two dozen different clubs around the tri-state area. The Original Saturday Night Dance Party would bring The Palladium, The Copa, Foxes, Emerald City, The Tunnel, Chicago, Limelight, 1018, The L.I. Exchange, and The Roxy right into New York, Connecticut and New Jersey living rooms, cars and boom boxes. Scott Blackwell, Glenn Friscia, DJ Animal, and one of dance music's lost pioneers. Roman Ricardo was also on the turntables for the Saturday Night Dance Party more often than not at a Vito Bruno dance event.
Arguably one of the most successful producers of the late 80s / early 90s era, he went on to give us hit after hit with classics like Noel - Silent Morning, S.H.I.E.L.A. Feat The Voice - Mr. Policeman, Jack N Jill - Go Miss Thing (Strictly Rhythm), and remixes on hits by Information Society like What's On Your Mind (Tommy Boy). We can sit here all day going through his discography. So what happened to this guy? Though some crazy rumors circulated, the truth is far less complicated. He simply retired to Florida. 20 years later Mr Ricardo has the studio itch again, and has delivered a new house EP, that brings us back to the days of The Tunnel, The Palladium, Danceteria, The Limelight and even The Sound Factory. Naughty Boy Label drops The Future One EP. The first of many to come will surely have us back in the time machine.
