We welcome Paul Matic aka Portuguese music producer and multi-instrumentalist Paulo Coutinho back to Piston Recordings with his Please Don’t Go EP. This one follows his last effort under his new moniker, Doubt EP. He is also known as LUS and it was in the late 80’s - when he heard some acid house, that his path was chosen. From that moment on he dedicated himself to house music. Since 2016 he has been churning out serious beats on various labels and his trademark sound lies within Deep and Tech House. Always a pleasure having him here at PR.

Please Don’t opens the release, introing with distinctive chords with some nice crackling FX. Chunky beats come through alongside cool voices and deep subby basses, creating a smooth groovy mover. Flurries of percussions generate feisty rhythms, which contrasts beautifully with the lazy, meandering efforts on the pianos. Up next, we have Elements, which delivers an infectious dancey groove right from the off. Chunky kicks and muddied basses create a murky scene which is offset by airy melodies and soft voices. The attention to detail is superb here, swathes of delicate notes and sounds find coherence in the endless groove, top-notch stuff. Let You Go is up next and concludes the EP with a fine display of smooth grooves. At its core, a powerful bassline dominates the track as tight beats and rhythmic percussions keep the feet moving. Soft trumpets, petite pianos and sultry vocals add a richness to the sound, which binds effortlessly with the sometimes trippy and moody nature of the groove. Another sublime cut that is not to be missed.
