Peng was formed in 1999 by Andy Compton from the Rurals. The idea was to use the label exclusively for The Rurals’ releases but Peng soon gained cult status in the Deep House/Soul scene, releasing some of the finest deep and jazzy grooves on the planet, so, naturally, other great artists wanted in. The roster was expanded and now in 2022 the label is going stronger than ever! The current catalogue consists of over 170 singles, 45 albums, and songs have been licensed to literally hundreds of compilations…
Peng have now embraced the digital era by creating the off-shoot Digipeng, a way of releasing even more experimental music digitally, without the overheads a vinyl release brings. Keep your eyes (and ears) peeled for future releases as Peng delve even further into the Soul scene, a way of crossing over and spreading their energy around the world in a big way!
