Opening 2022 by adding new talent to their roster, Cid Inc's Replug Records welcomes Anaqram to the label for their debut EP. Hailing from Russia, the Anaqram duo has achieved measurable success since first emerging in 2020 with a trio of releases via Ruben de Ronde's Statement! imprint. It proved to be an auspicious debut for Moscow residents Anton and Maxim, who had conceptualized the project just a year prior. The duo cast traditional genre blueprints aside and were quickly recognized for a sound that carried the melody and emotion of progressive house, along with the groove-centric rhythms of tech-house and techno. Two years on and Anaqram now finds themselves with an impressive resume, highlighted by releases for Anjunabeats, Freegrant Music, Mango Alley, Songspire and UV, while electronic music icon's Above and Beyond, Armin Van Buuren, David Guetta and Miss Monique continue to champion their sound. Continuing that upward trajectory as 2022 begins, Anaquam presents their much-anticipated Replug debut entitled ‘Conjunction'.
Getting the release underway and sitting as one of Anaqram's most heady productions to date is the title selection ‘Conjunction'. Warm beats and a full, rolling groove set the foundation for a narrative of whimsical arps, uniquely tailored percussion and shimmering overlays. Pushing a poignant mood into the break; the duo marries ghostly vocals, warm bass swells and placid pads across the expansive interlude, building emotion with each successive pass as melodies open up, before eventually giving way to a thumping drop and key changing finale.
Rounding out the release are the pulsating grooves and intoxicating atmospheres of ‘No Matter'. Mysterious and uplifting throughout, it's a collage of wavy rhythms and fuzzy stabs which captivate leading into the break. Charming vocal phrases and delicate arps further the story as the centrepiece unfolds, bringing with them hopeful moods and transcendent vibes, before a breezy drop puts your senses on high for an emotive conclusion.
Operating at the peak of their creative powers, Anaqram continues to impress with their Replug debut ‘Conjunction'. A two-track showcase which sets the course for what promises to be another stellar year for the Russian duo.
