Johannes Volk debuts on Ben Sims’ Hardgroove imprint this December with the ‘Seismic Waves’ EP.

Comprising four tracks from Volk, ‘Seismic Waves’ sees the German producer noted for output on Axis and Token amongst others in gritty, funky and occasionally playful form.

‘Keep Going!’, the clap-driven stomp that opens ‘Seismic Waves’, sees Volk balance a driving, earworm arpeggio with, fittingly, a punchy and relentless groove. The continuous rhythmic development and pitched, melodic percussion of ‘Change of Gear’ follows with similar energy before the EP’s title track drops its shoulders and powers into moodier territories. The stab-driven ‘Everyday Drama’ closes out ‘Seismic Waves’ neatly, managing to encapsulate the rest of the EP’s tonal qualities into its DNA.
