Southbound Sounds

Nordic Trax
NT114 | 2021-11-26
The Irish invasion continues as Southbound Sounds join the Nordic Trax family. The four-track deep house ep from the duo features the vocals of Lagos-based Morris Revy.

Southbound Sounds are Alan Keane and Greg O'Connell: an Irish deep house & techno collective based out of Cork. On their label debut the duo deliver a sumptuous collection of driving deep house for discerning dancefloors.

The sidechain tension and release of the opening track Submerge provides a blueprint for Southbound Sounds. Following along is the thumping track Lagos, inspired by their friend and musical collaborator Morris Revy. On the title track things get a little more sampledelic with key stabs and a melancholic vibe. Finally on I Wish -- featuring vocals from the aforementioned Morris Revy -- it's an end of night of "hands-in-the-air" affair that will leave you wanting more.

Southbound Sounds are inspired by Chicago house, Detroit techno and everything in between. They have releases on Expanded, DeepFix, Turtlewax & Spiritualized. They are also heavily involved in Irish label Deeper Groove and recently remixed Glenn Davis' track Hold Tight. Keep your ears open for these two.
