Flankup welcomes Ankle Release to the roster, with a stunning release full of disco / nu disco cues across 3 warm & deeply grooving house cuts. The meeting of the HipHop-Underground culture of Triplex and the more Disco-Funk side of Fabietto Delgado are the perfect fusion of styles that combine these killer disco tracks. With only a release on Masterwork Music (2018), the Italian producer duo is only just getting started. And as far as starts go: This release on Flankup will definitely open some eyes & ears across the house scene.
The opening track catapults us into the adrenaline-fueled atmosphere of the 'Dodgems'; loud music and a festive atmosphere, nu-disco sounds are the right way to have fun driving, driven by the low frequencies of the sample that presses to the end. Lap after lap, going down will be the most difficult challenge.
'Chairoplane' is a whirlwind of emotions ready to explode. As soon as you sit down, the vocal disco sample kicks off the first round. The speed increases and in the central part the Rhodes piano opens up which leads to an incredible solo: throbbing heart and trembling legs like in the middle of the dancefloor.
The evening lights remind us that we are towards the end, The b-side of the ep is entirely dedicated to the third and last track. 'Matterhorn' is the perfect ending to this fascinating playful journey through grooves reminiscent of Italodisco and a pressing Moog bass that lead the mind to dance under a starry sky on a midsummer night.
