Celebrating their 50th release, Nikko.Z's Dopamine White welcomes Christopher Erre to the label for his debut EP. Born in Toronto, Canada but raised in Cordoba, Argentina where he ventured into the country's nightlife at the age of sixteen. Already an accomplished DJ and producer by the age of twenty, Christopher was a regular at Infierno, Dorian Gray and Feel Club, where his blend of progressive sounds delighted club goers. Early releases courtesy of Balkan Connection and BC2 eventually led to recent outings via Nick Warren's The Soundgarden, MNL, One Of A Kind and Transensations. Now adding Dopamine White to his resume, Christopher debuts on the Greek imprint with a three-track showcase entitled Argos'.
Beginning with the title track Christopher presents a well-constructed blend of melody and groove. Tough beats and a muscular low-end power the foundation, while tantalized arps and sweeping effects deliver depth and texture across the first act. Airy pads emerge as the main break approaches, gently elevating mood and perfectly setting up an expansive centrepiece. Clocking in at nearly two minutes in length, the main break resonates brightly with a marriage of angelic vocal pads and sentimental melodies, before getting washed away in a rush of beats and key changing bass for a stellar finale.
Seres Terrenales' finds Christopher collaborating with Argentinian artist and occasional studio partner xirteM. Once again, a commanding groove sits at the root of the production, while indistinct vocals and meandering atmospheres unite for an intoxicating storyboard. Moving forward, scattered percussion adds further swing to the groove, eventually giving way to an expansive break. As the centrepiece evolves its trippy landscape captivates with each successive loop, delivering both tension and emotion, as acid lines percolate and processed vocals strike at opportune moments, before a tense drum roll sparks a thunderous drop and heady final act.
The third and final selection Arcadia' caps off the EP with a blend of dark undertones and emotional musicality. A touch trippier than the previous two selections, it's a tough groove which sets the course for fragmented lines and tranquil melodies to work their magic. Atmospheric swells rise across the main break, blanketing clustered sonics, while raising tension and mood as result, before eventually pulling back as sweeping effects unleash the groove for a commanding finish. It rounds out a stunning three track offering from Christopher Erre, who makes an excellent Dopamine White debut with Argos'.
