Self confessed hopeless romantics Dance Spirit are bent on attaining subconscious perfection through rhythm, timbre, melody and movement and come pretty darn close to that on their superb new EP for Mr.Cs Superfreq. So far also releasing on labels like Supernature and Maison D'Etre, this latest EP comes ahead of two scheduled full length releases, one of which will come on Superfreq in 2014. This release came about by experimenting with melodies and sampling say Dance Spirit, and you can tell from the off, Future Romance is a widescreen melodic house track that spreads to an infinite horizon in every direction thanks to the warbling synths and subtly uplifting pads. It slowly unfolds, forever rolling on inviting kicks and claps and is one that will consume whole dancefloors, minds and bodies in the process. Shake It is built on a more bobbling bottom end and is run through with dulcet spoken word tones and plenty of lively synths; they spread and spray, implode and explode and do so with great poise from start to finish. Next offering Time Seclusion looks back to the shuffling percussive energy of 90s garage house for its inspiration. Prominent, beautifully loose and live sounding snares ride up top on this drum led track, but Dance Spirit's knack for weaving fine melodies is also ever present; buried deep in the midst of the drums and between more droning pads, it's a truly evocative sound. Finally, Voices in My Head is the most raw of the lot , drums and percussion are piled on top of each other, glistening and glinting bits of metal dangle in the background and more unnerving voices from the outer cosmos murmur in the little spaces left behind. Just ahead of their debut LP, Dance Spirit are shaping up to become quite the hotly tipped act on the lips of those that know.
