NG Trax label boss Nima Gorji is a long time house staple who has been helping to define the sound of now for more than fifteen years. Sci + Tec, Bondage, Talman and Fuse London have all come calling for his beats over the years, while he has kept in the headlines with always stylish DJ sets at landmark clubs all over the world, especially the likes of Pacha and Privilege in Ibiza. Here he kicks off with 'Early Bird', a superbly pressurised house track that locks you into the groove and before introducing a warped and twisted lead synth. The drums never let up and keep marching forwards as a driving bassline and miniature explosions of cosmic keys light up the whole track. 'Morning Sun' then has a drilling, darkened bassline and punchy kicks that waste no time in setting the mood. A freaky synth phrase pans around the mix and effective filters build the tension as this one unfolds, with lush chords bringing the soul. After years of putting out subversive house, techno and minimal, Detroit-raised, Brooklyn-based tastemaker Ryan Crosson demonstrates his complex artistic style by reworking 'Early Bird' into a bubbling, rhythmically playful tune for the after-hours. Molten and withering chords bring an off balance feel as quirky synth motifs and muffled voices add the sort of character that has always stood his work apart.
