With „Mephisto" and „42 Celsius" the Berlin-based producer Matthias Schuell debuts on Blindfold
Recordings. Due to his education in classical music, it comes to mind that classical instruments find their way on to Matthias Schuell's productions. "Mephisto" combines these classical string elements with broad synth sounds and afro like drums to an energetic, poetic and fulminant culmination of sounds, times and cultures. In contrary to this broad firework „42 Celsius" comes in a very minimalistic fashion. A reiterating rhythm rarely unsettled with a big bawl of a bass line is complemented with high triolic pizzicato stabs that are dripping down on the pumping beat. This meditative state is lacerated with a loud and piercing synth figure. The contrast between repetition and disruption is what makes this track unique and interesting, a workable tool for the dance floor.
