A new name to the Particles catalogue, Sam Heyman opens his account with a debut original EP. Twin original tracks and remixes from South America and the Middle East herald "Rosa".
A talented artist from the picturesque Stockholm archipelago, Sam Heyman has found himself front and centre of the underground dance scene with a clutch of production material written over the past 12 months. February 2018's "Rakata" provided a driving original for SPINNIN' DEEP, while the "Celestials" EP for Gai Barone's Afterglow saw a high-profile remix from Matan Caspi, going on to feature on the number one best-selling "JOOF Editions, Vol. 5" album. Further original material for Kontact, Aletheia and MIR MUSIC has lit up 2019 and it is therefore an honour to welcome the Swedish artist to Particles. Full of richly-textured layers and vocal phrase, "Altair" hypnotises with its grooved bassline and pounding beat foundation. Sumptuous pads add depth while filtered arps wax and wane, building Heyman's musical narrative across the EP. "Capella" immediately captivates with its panned percussive groove before a filtered bassline and symbiotic arpeggio blend magically together. Building throughout, another sparkling arpeggio comes to the fore, rising at the mid-point breakdown alongside a searing analogue lead-line, exploding into the third movement with dancefloor prowess.
A renowned DJ across the Middle East with residencies at Pacha Ibiza Dubai and Trilogy, Ejaz Ahamed is no stranger to success with performances alongside a plethora of A-listers including Digweed, Sasha and Cattaneo. A nascent production career has blossomed since a March 2017 debut for PHW Elements with further work finding its way to Yin, BC2 and Darin Epsilon's Perspectives Digital. Returning to Particles after a July 2018 remix for Jero Nougues, the Ejaz Ahamed remix takes "Altair" on a coruscating journey of flowing arpeggiated melodies that pay tribute to Heyman's work. A superbly modulated chord progression and melodic motifs so central to the original, then effortlessly find their way into the track's second half. A deeply grooved bassline adds further to the overall sonic collage in a mature and skilful production.
Francis Di Rosa and Juan Cruz Dangelo have forged a name for themselves under their Soulkeys moniker. From the sprawling Buenos Aries capital, the Argentinean pair have hit the headlines with their "deep and progressive beats" and DJ performances across the city. Approaching a century of production credits, work for Aethereal, Balkan Connection South America and Stellar Fountain have seen the duo make their mark within the progressive house scene. Now debuting on Particles, Soulkeys provide a deep and sultry reworking of "Altair" that revels in ticking percussive groove and cavernous bassline. An arpeggio with its roots in Heyman's original, ripples across the track, rising and falling with ease, while the familiar refrains of the original make their presence felt at a stirring breakdown, full of atmospheric white-noise washes.
