Carl Higson presents a true journey of sinister puppeteers, magicians and midnight prancers.
Upon initial embarkation of the EP is Metropolis, a tone setting driving electronica/progressive house piece that has a depth akin to a sprawling city-scape, where below the surface lies something a bit more darker than is initially apparent.
Following this up, and beautifully translating the elegance of the original Depths, Acutek takes on the remix duties for the title track.
Blending subtle electronic depths with a dream laden and spell binding road of Techno undertones, Acutek really creates a building intensity that takes you by surprise and informs of another burgh to emerge from the Metropolis.
In contrast, Carl Higson presents the second work on the EP in the form of Menace. More direct in it's driving style, this has a hidden energy that creates a vision of wonder and beauty, sonically belying the title whilst it's namesake's real form is that of the effect of the warning of the places this aural delight will take you to.
Backing this up is a remix brought to us by Dan Baber & Fractal Architect, both having graced the label in solo form previously, they combine into their familiar duo to craft an extension of the original in an emotionally and intensely rewarding to the listener and those who engage with it's aural caution.
