Tabulat founder Jeroen Meertens lands the first release on our imprint. His "Identity EP" is also his debut release under this new self-titled moniker, wherein he represents a distinguished, sub-oriented techno sound. This 3-tracker EP gets accompanied with an outstanding remix by Second State prodigy Deas.
The title track "Identity" immediately sets the tone for the sound that Tabulat has to offer. This deep and dark offering gets characterized by its spectacular variation between intense breaks and penetrating minimalistic crescendo's. Subtle arpeggiating synth work and dusky percussion contribute to the immense atmospheric timbre that this track has to offer.
"Napoli" is the second offering of the release. Jeroen Meertens' signature sound of haunting minimalism clearly comes through within this track and generates a fiercely hypnotizing feeling towards the auditor. An acid-flecked sub-bass grabs hold of the listener from the very beginning and paves the way for the arpeggiating lead to kick in. These scarce elements blend over into each other in balanced harmony and steadily oscillate towards a hard-hitting and intense climax. Moreover, this sonic homage to the Napolitan techno sound has been premiered by no one other than Luigi Madonna at Partenopeo Club, in of course, the city of Napoli.
Preceding remixes for artists like Pig&Dan, Harvey McKay, Martin Eyerer and Inner City highlight Deas' highly demanded status as a remix artist. Therefore we are proud to welcome this rising star from the Second State family to Tabulat with a stellar remix of the title track. His raw re-interpretation of "Identity" serves as an essential addition to the EP and wraps up our first release in a marvelous way.
