Our good friend and regular contributor, Leonardo Gonnelli, is back on board for his first EP of 2018. his time he has company on the release, as it is a collaboration with the up-and-coming duo Jesters. These guys are representing the fresh wave of talent from our beautiful city of Florence and we are excited to have them back on Deeperfect for their first EP. First up is the title track ‘Matanomo’. This is a pumping club burner that is sure to please fans of the Minimal / Deep Tech sound The track operates around a pushing low end that is perfectly balanced with an intricate, tribal edged bed of hats and percussion. Drum delays and subtle synth hits create a deep atmospheric vibe which is complemented to perfection with a contemporary male vocal that pumps up the energy and creates a dynamic dancefloor moment everytime it comes to the forefront of the track.
Up next is a heavy groover named ‘Ounce’. This track uses a similar sound pallet to Matanomo but ups the ante on the tribal percussion and the low end syncopation. A heavily effected vocal brings an instantly recognisable character and bravado to the track. The intensity of the vocal is ramped up in the break before a throwback synth riff brings an energetic release and ignites the senses. The low frequency comes thundering back in and the hypnotic tribal groove resumes dancefloor domination!
