Pied Piper presenting JU-JU. A one-off project translating percussive jazz frenzy into jungle funk dread, a rhythmic science at its exquisite peak, sweeping into its thrillingly vertiginous swirl of breakbeats and poised,
latin flavoured grooves and crystalline keyboards. An exercise in pure groove propulsion, powered by sleazy ‘70s street funk, big band jazz and bossa, before igniting into a frenzy of jump cutting, freeze-framing and rewinding groovology.


A mutation of jazz, configured from elements of techno, dancehall, dub, funk and hip-hop but the volatile composite made for a sound that is completely unprecedented.
Packed with slow skank guitar and heavy dub bass, it’s abducted into double time by breakbeats, rasta vocal samples and, incongruously but brilliantly, horns and big band hits.
