The first release on Michael and Levan and Stiven Rivic's Kunai imprints sees the trio of label bosses delivering their first single for the label. After a yearlong streak of amazing productions on Sound Avenue, Mesmeric, Movement, Joof and countless other top imprints Michael, Levan and Stiven now turn their focus on building a top notch imprint with Kunai. The trio's first single for the label is entitled 'Priority' and it comes with a remix from Pole Folder.
The Original Mix leads the release off with a deep and atmospheric groove that is immediately captivating. A wealth of electronic hits combined with some bubbly bass tones and a shimmering ambient backdrop creates a heavenly vibe early on. A short drop introduces a swirling, hypnotic synth lead which pushes the track forward with a gyrating energy. Chord changes in the bass line play off the swirling atmosphere for some poignant vibes as the break approaches. As the track strips itself down into the main break a soft, windswept ambience comes over the piece. The bubbly rhythms become more pronounced and the spacey environment grows into something incredibly enchanting. When a stripped down portion of the groove returns an atmospheric warmth comes over the record which closes it out on a high note. The perfect track to commemorate the launch of Kunai.
The lone remix of 'Priority' comes from Pole Folder. The Belgian producer rose to electronic music stardom in 2001 when a string of productions including 'Apollo Vibes' and 'Dust' were signed to John Digweed's Bedrock Records. The label then commissioned Pole Folder to record his first studio album entitled 'Zero Gold' which was released in 2004. Further productions for Frisky Records, Proton and Baroque solidified the Belgian producers place amongst the electronic music elite. Fast forward to 2013 and Pole Folder is still releasing cutting edge music primarily on his own Reworck imprint which has been one of the prime outlets for emotionally stimulating electronica. For his 'Priority' interpretation which has been dubbed 'Year Of The Dragon' Pole Folder has taken the lush elements from the original and created a deep, pulsating masterpiece. Filled with warm, grinding harmonies and a wavering hypnotic backdrop it's a mix that just seems to build endlessly with positive vibes. The melodic tension during the main breakdown may be one of Pole Folder's finest moments and it's one that your dance floor won't soon forget.
