Team work: Thereâs a strong collaborative theme to This And Thatâs releases so far this year. Hot on the heels of ZDS & Doorlyâs timeless house gems last month comes another tried and tested tag-team... Philip Bader and Niconé.
And we mean tried and tested: Philip and Niconé have been working together for years. Often bringing their friend Sascha Braemer into the cooperative melting pot, theyâve been beatcrafting together for years across labels such as Bedrock, their own imprint Dantze, French Kitchen, Saved and, just weeks ago, Riva Starrâs Snatch!.
Itâs not hard to see why. Both artists complement each otherâs style perfectly, whatever mood they decide to explore. This release is a perfect case in point as âMouse In The Machineâ and âSo Dopeâ reflect their widest vision and abilities. The former ripples with shivering melodic cascades as vast blasts of light wrap themselves over a drum arrangement that gradually builds into a relentless, sweaty MAW style bombardment. The latter takes us to much grittier, loopier, ultimately darker corners of the floor as a vocal loop helps us navigate through a jagged staccato riff and heavily swung tech groove.
Dream work: One for elevating the dance, the other for corrupting it, Philip Bader and Niconé have delivered two more impeccable tracks right here. May the strong collaborative theme continue...
